Transfer:
This type of propaganda is transfer because it is a picture of Drew Barrymore wearing Covergirl mascara. People will see this ad and think "Well if Drew Barrymore uses this it must be good." I know when I see attractive or famous people using a product it must be good since they look like they do. People forget about all the money these models and celebs are getting paid to talk about how wonderful this product is.

Repetition:
This type of propaganda is repetition because Billy Mays repeats the brand of this product numerous times during the commercials. The commercials start out, " Hi, Billy Mays here to tell you a little about Oxiclean..." and then he rambles about tough stains on your carpets, clothes and other household items. Billy Mays shows examples of how Oxiclean works and while demonstrating he repeats Oxiclean, Oxiclean, Oxiclean, until its stuck in your brain for good.

Testimonial:
This type of propaganda is testimonial because Jessica Simpson talks about her battle with acne since she was a rising star. Even though Jessica Simpson is a beautiful celebrity from a far but up close she has pimples and black heads just like very other teenager and young adult in America. This makes teens think by using this product they will look like Jessica Simpson. The commercials also show other teens using Proactiv which makes them think it will automatically work for them as well.

This weekend my aunt and I traded cars :) I gave my 1998 red Ford Explorer for a 2001 silver Toyota Celica. I think it was beyond a fair trade.... I love it so so so much... It is small and the stereo is awesome and it goes fast (so I have heard) 'wink''wink'

Sunscreen
These are the song lyrics for "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen" by Baz Luhrman. I heard this song for the first time when I was little and I love it... all of the information he talks about is true to the core...
Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering
experience…I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you
Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours.
Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own..
Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will
look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen…

New & Improved
Here recently I started doing what I want. I have a tendency to just do what is expected of me and follow others. I am straying from the pack. I stopped being nice to people I don't like, the whole treat others like you would want to be treated isn't really paying off, so if your a meany head to me I can bite right back... I'm tired of people using me, and walking all over me... I felt as if I was living in a dream, a very boring, routine based dream. My grades weren't doing so hot here recently so I started kicking butt and taking names :) I still have a C+ in Algerbra II but its still improved. I feel so much better this last week, I finally let go of the past and I'm welcoming the future. I was stuck in a glitch I couldn't shake... But now that I've let go I am better...

Sign Language
Here recently I have looked into sign language because my Medical Intervention class is studying about the ear. We are doing a debate about how the majority of the deaf community is against cochlear implants. They are there own little community and they think that if you are born deaf then they are meant to be that way. The deaf community is usually lenient with people that have become deaf over time or were in an accident. This really interests me because I can see why they are against cochlear implants. I have decided to become a part of ASL University. Which means that that I will be doing an online workshop that will help teach me sign language. I am really excited to be starting this soon. I will leave updates on how I am doing.

LoVe
I strongly believe that there is a someone for everyone. Some people go their whole lives looking for that person, and some never find them :( Then there are the lucky few that find their someone and they live happily ever after... I'm positive I know who I am supposed to be with forever, but I don't feel lucky at all... I may be young but I can guarantee I know what love is. Love is when from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep you can only think about that person, Love is when you can tell someone anything no matter the consequences because you know they will understand, Love is that happiness that sits at the bottom of your tummy, and even on the worst days seeing that persons face can change everything, Love is every kiss, every touch, every time your eyes meet and you can't catch your breath... I hate it when people say I don't know what love is, how would they know? They aren't me... Love is terrifying, I hate it... but you can't stop it from happening and you can't make it go away... you can be stupid and fight it but it just makes things worse...

This weekend I watched The Little Mermaid. I loved this movie growing up because it was very musical and the story is great. The Little mermaid is about a mermaid that doesn't fit in with her family. She wants to be a human and she is very fascinated with them. She even falls in love with one. So to get to spend time with her love interest and keep him oblivious to the fact she is a mermaid she makes a pact with an evil octopus named Ursula. The pact is that she will give Ariel legs but she will take away her beautiful voice, she has a limited amount of time to receive a kiss from the guy. In the end she gets her kiss even though Ursula trys to ruin it, with the help of her friends like Sebastian and Flounder she gets the guy and her legs :)

Twilight Saga

I decided to do a post about how much I love Twilight. A lot of ppl rly think that Twilight is super lame but I really enjoy it because it shows that ordinary ppl can sometimes come up against life changing things. I am also a girl so it is a part of my DNA to just fall in love with imaginary and utterly amazingly gorgeous guys that have deep dark secrets aka Edward Cullen and Jacob Black :) I really can't explain how brilliant Stephenie Meyer's book are, she is an amazing writer.
I LOVE TWILIGHT!!

Pinocchio

This weekend I watched Pinocchio. When I was younger this movie terrified me because I thought if I lied my nose would grow like Pinocchios.
Pinocchio is about a little wooden boy that has a big imagination and he sets off with two bad guys that lead him to a circus. He escapes and goes on a long journey in search of becoming a "real" boy. on his journey a little cricket that is his "conscience" helps him along the way. In the end he does find his way home, and he finally becomes a real boy :)

Snow White

Snow White is about this oblivious princess that has an evil stepmother that also happens to be a witch. Who sends Snow White off and she gets lost in the woods, she stumbles across a little cottage inhabited by 7 dwarfs and practically adopts them. She cleans, and cooks and takes care of them until the evil stepmother finds out so she sets off to kill her for good. She disguises herself as an old lady and offers Snow White a poison apple, and Snow White being the ditzy girl she is took a bite and falls into a deep sleep forever. But to her convenience a prince happens to come along and kiss her, so she awakens and lives happily ever after. The End..... Its a great movie and the dwarfs are awesome.

Representing Me

A crab represents a part of me because my zodiac sign is Cancer. I chose this crab because it has feminine appeal but it isn't too girly. I also like how it is black and white.

Marilyn Monroe represents a part of me because she is my hero. She was sexy and classy. She was totally in control of everything she did. She is and always will be the original bombshell. I love her!! If I could meet with anyone person I would pick her.

A pad of paper and a pen represent a part of me because I love writing. It helps me let go of reality and find my inner peace. Whenever I'm upset or I need to release my feelings writing is there for me.
image from: bellevucollege.com
Purses represent a part of me becasue they are like my transportable bedrooms. I carry everything in my purse. My ipod, cell phone, calculator, agenda book, make-up case, the book I'm currently reading, flash cards, notes from class, and pay check stubs.. My purse is what keeps me glued together.
